The university of Coventry creates the unique environment of mobile training

The university has set for itself a problem to introduce in division Serious Games Institute (SGI) a technological platform on which basis it would be possible to construct digital model of buildings of institute so that depending on a site of the student in a real building and its digital similarity access to corresponding teaching materials was given to it. Thus the way of delivery of teaching materials should correspond not only to a site of the student, but also devices which it uses at present.
In the decision are combined platform Cisco for the wireless services considering a physical site of the user, and a control system of a teaching material learn eXact® companies Guinti Labs. Software Guinty Labs allows redirecting instantly a material to virtual SGI environment or on any device connected to wire or wireless networks Cisco, developed in university. We also can use a content on other platforms of the virtual worlds, such as Forterra and Second Life ".

 Giunti Labs, SGI and Cisco plan to begin work on functions of "the expanded positioning” which will provide compatibility and interaction of systems of positioning both in real buildings, and in their virtual copies. These systems will allow students to meet, even if actually they will be divided by thousand miles. And there can be both real images of students, and their graphic representatives, so-called "avatars". “Connection of the mobile and virtual world opens huge possibilities for increase of a learning efficiency by means of new technologies”, - main chief executive Giunti Labs Fabrizio Cardinali has declared.
Expansion of new system at institute SGI is a part of more extensive project aimed, among other, on creation of a "clever" complex of university buildings which by 2010 can accept more students from the Great Britain and other countries. The new system will raise degree of satisfaction of students and teachers, will help to increase the income of applied researches by 50 percent and will allow to generate some the research centres and groups which could become world leaders in the area.

On a course of realisation of this project all equipment of a university network has been updated. Today it includes switchboards Cisco Catalysts of series 6500, 3750, 3560 and 2960, wireless universal network Cisco with modules of wireless services, controllers of a wireless local network of a series 4400, control systems of the unified communications (Cisco Unified Communications Manager) and the software for contacts-centres Cisco Unified Contact Center Express. “As a result we have received absolutely new type of educational tools which will help university of Coventry to turn by 2010 to the centre of higher education of a world class”, - speaks Тим Лайни (Tim Liney), the regional manager on sales of decisions Cisco for the higher and the vocational education in the Great Britain.
